On 03 September 2026, the Municipal Office, Udupi, reached out to Sainik Setu regarding an individual found near the railway tracks at Udupi Railway Station, who appeared to be from the Armed Forces and was reportedly suffering from dementia.

Upon receiving the information, Team Sainik Setu immediately visited the hospital to verify the details. An identification card established that the individual was a retired Naval Officer from Tamil Nadu.

Recognising the need to trace his family, Sainik Setu reached out to (FOTNA) the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu Area, Commanding Officer INS Adyar and the Directorate of Naval Police for assistance.

With the support of these offices, the Officer’s family was traced on the same day. The family arrived in Udupi on the morning of 05 September.

Following a medical assessment, the doctor advised that the Officer remain under observation for a few more days. Sainik Setu assisted the family in settling at a secure place in Udupi and coordinated their requirements during their stay.

On 07 September, the Officer was discharged from the hospital and, accompanied by his family, returned safely to Tamil Nadu.

This intervention reflects the essence of Sainik Setu—connecting Veterans in times of need and ensuring that no member of the Sainik Parivar is left without support.

Special thanks to RADM Upal Kundu, VSM, FOTNA. Cmde Vinay Bhushan Naik, Director Naval Police & Jayananda Pooja Ex - PO, Indian Navy for all the support.
