Sainik Setu, in collaboration with the Udupi District Ex-Servicemen Forum & Dakshina Kannada Zilla ESMA, organised a special screening of Border 2 for veterans, including War Heroes of the 1971 War. The evening was more than a cinematic experience — it was a powerful moment of remembrance, reflection and renewed camaraderie.

The event brought together distinguished veterans and members of civil society in a spirit of honour and solidarity.

Among those who addressed the gathering were:

·        Commodore Jerome Castellino (Retd), who spoke about the historic significance of the 1971 war and the enduring lessons of leadership and national unity.

·        Colonel Madhav Shanbhag (Retd), who paid tribute to fallen comrades and reflected on answering the nation’s call.

·        Ex-Air Force Sergeant Raghavendra Rao, who highlighted disciplined planning, strategic foresight and the responsibility of citizens to honour our martyrs.

The gathering was welcomed by Ganapayya Shrigar, President of the Udupi Ex-Servicemen Forum. The event was coordinated by CPO Ganesh Rao, with support from Sub Major Ashok Kumar at Bharat Cinemas. The management of Bharat Cinemas, led by Ashwin Prabhu and team, extended generous cooperation by providing the venue at a concessional rate — a meaningful gesture of respect towards the armed forces.

Representatives from the Indian Medical Association and Indian Dental Association were also present, reflecting strong community support for veteran-centric initiatives.

For many veterans present, Border 2 was not merely a film. It rekindled memories of service, sacrifice and bonds forged in adversity. The pre-screening interaction conducted by Sudarshan R Pai (Retd) and Pooja Pai of Sainik Setu created space for dialogue and reflection — reinforcing the foundation’s focus on emotional wellbeing and social connectedness.

Events like these strengthen the veteran network, encourage peer support and remind us that remembrance is not confined to history — it is lived and honoured together.

At Sainik Setu, we remain committed to ensuring Well-being and Beyond for those who once stood guard for the nation.
